These two are just a few of the many spells planned for my next compendium, the Tome of Twilight.

Regarding Devour Light, yes the darkness stays until dispelled or daylight-ed, which falls in line for a 5th level spell, when you consider the erupting earth a 3rd level spell, can create permanent difficult terrain (granted easier to fix, but it's 2 levels lower)
